FIRE EXTINGUISHER SPRAYS

Why are Prymos fire extinguisher sprays often more suitable than conventional fire extinguishers in incipient fires?

Due to the high proportion of plastics in the environment fires spread much faster than in the past. At the same time a lot of highly toxic fumes arise. Therefore, every second counts in case of an incipient fire. Fire extinguishers, which are heavy (up to 20kg) and which have been used for decades, are not the answer. The better solution is fire extinguisher sprays.

It makes sense, however, to provide a large-size extinguisher as a backup to provide maximum safety. Prymos therefore provides latest technology in a maintenance-free fire extinguisher using corrosion-free materials like Kevlar® in addition to the sprays.

Why are there different types of fire extinguisher sprays?

Different fire extinguisher sprays are designed for different applications. Correspondingly, fire extinguisher sprays have different extinguishing agents with different performance characteristics and ranges of operating temperatures.

Is the extinguishing performance of fire extinguisher sprays sufficient for fighting incipient fires?

In closed rooms such as offices, the extinguishing performance of fire extinguisher sprays is normally absolutely sufficient for tackling incipient fires without hazard. Since modern buildings contain large amounts of plastic highly toxic fumes arise rapidly. That means that there is only a very small time slot for hazard-free fire fighting. Handy, intuitive fire extinguisher sprays increase considerably the chances of tackling an incipient fire quickly and successfully.

Can a fire extinguisher spray, which has been already used and which is not yet empty, be used again?

In principle, yes; durability is not limited by use. However, extinguishing performance is reduced to an unknown extent, because the entire amount of extinguishing agent is no longer available. So we would recommend buying a new fire extinguisher spray as soon as possible.

What is the working life of fire extinguisher sprays?

The working life of the fire extinguisher sprays is 5 years.

PM10 FIRE EXTINGUISHER

Are the maintenance free Prymos PM10 fire extinguishers approved and certified according to EN 3?

PM10 fire extinguishers, which are maintenance free for up to 10 years, comply with legal requirements and regulations. They are certified and approved according to EN 3.

Are Prymos PM10 fire extinguishers just as secure as conventional fire extinguishers?

Prymos PM10 fire extinguishers are in principle safer than conventional ones. The operating reliability of a conventional fire extinguisher is dependent on the quality of the periodical maintenance. Due to the use of corrosion-free composite materials, operating valves of nickel-plated brass and high-quality extinguishing agents, PM10 fire extinguishers allow for full operational reliability for 10 years under normal conditions*. During this time, maintenance is not necessary.

* provided that the extinguishers have not been opened

What costs are saved by using PM10 fire extinguishers?

As PM10 fire extinguishers are free of maintenance not only all expenses for checks and maintenance fall away but also the corresponding administration costs e.g. . requesting servicing quotations, checking invoices, processing payments, etc.

Why have maintenance-free fire extinguishers not been available before now?

What happens with the PM10 fire extinguisher after 10 years?

At the end of 10 years, the old PM10 fire extinguishers are taken back if new ones are bought.

How much weight is saved with a PM10 fire extinguisher as compared to a traditional device?

The weight advantage of a PM10 fire extinguisher is approx. 25% compared to a conventional device. This makes it much easier to use.

How can I check if the PM10 fire extinguisher is ready for operation?

The PM10 fire extinguishers are equipped with 2 redundant magnet gauges for the long-term control of the operating pressure. When both gauges show in the greeen field, the extinguisher has operating pressure.
